oh my! you asked just the right question! maybe because the illustrator has no plaform within the site, like announcement board or something, where they can publish official hiatuses.

This one is like a board decision to actually reillustrate things because they plan to include side stories.

Like it is really nice if they release the announcement immediately after the decision and not just release notices after readers had waited for long.

I can’t speak for everybody, but for me it felt as though everything built up just collapsed. The mc gets his memories back, and finds out the ml accidentally killed his mom. This leads to him being conflicted on his feelings towards ml. Another thing is that the mc’s personality seems to just randomly switch up. He goes for bubbly to weirdly aloof. The mc and ml don’t really get a compelling or complete resolve. Lastly they end it with ml not having to truly learn from his past mistakes.

Ahh okay, sounds indeed a bit disappointing. Thanks for telling me your opinion! I guess I'll drop it there then. I prefer couples that are obsessed with each other, not kinda one sided

I don't know when exactly it will end, but there's not that much more that will happen, based on the novel...

It ended up turning into people insulting each other because those who were trying to educate others lost their patience with people who refused to understand where they were coming from.

There isn't anything wrong with the first chapter it portrays the civil war a little well such as the war expect of it not the actual social changes of the war such as tensions between the north and south army, but the main thing people are concerned about is the trope. Slave x master. It's controversial because this trope shouldn't be fetishized because of its historical truth. Slaves in America were seen as objects rather than humans and black Americans continued to be treated as such post-civil war because of Jim crow which was the birth era of a lot hatred towards black people as a whole in America. Long story short, a serious topic such as the civil war can be used as hook for historical bl, but the salve x master trope shouldn't be the main trope because it doesn't educate anyone on how wrong slavery and racism was in America post-civil

Slaves in America were seen as objects rather than humans and black Americans continued to be treated as such post-civil war because of Jim crow which was the birth era of the continued hatred towards black people as a whole in America. I know the uke isn't fully black, but he's mixed heritage, I can assume is native American and mixed with African American because it would just be historically wrong for the author to have an Native American enslaved person because Natives weren't apart of the slave trade since the beginning of the transatlantic slave trade. Native American tribes actually owned slaves so it will be just historically wrong to have a native slave, but that's beyond me.
And another thing is that cause of the civil war was because of the souths need for slavery in their economy and norths need to get rid of it because their developing urban society. So having this trope still doesn't make sense because slaves wanted to free while the south was fighting with everything they had to keep slaves. Idk what year this bl is taking place, but I hope and pray JAXX was planning that the emancipation proclamation wasn't signed yet because it would be awkward to see a slave loyal to their owners after they are free.

Thanks for taking the time to explain this! I understand why a master x slave trope, especially in the context of American slavery, is so sensitive and would need to be portrayed responsibly and with great care. I also know that most relationships between enslavers and enslaved people were based on coercion rather than free choice, which is why many people would see that kind of romance as romanticizing slavery.
That said, I still wonder whether the cancellation was the best solution. The story could have included more poc characters and introduced readers, especially those outside the US, to a part of American history they might not know much about. I've even seen people say they didn't realize slavery still existed during the Wild West era?! A carefully handled fictional story could have encouraged people to learn more about that history.
So I wonder if it's for the best to cancel a story with such a sensitive premise from the beginning, or if we should have given it a chance?

I am going to be so honest with you, I hoped that it also continued because I too want people to be educated on American history because as we've seen a lot weren't even aware of the American civil war plus weren't aware that the wild west/American frontiers also took place during it.But a topic such as this needs to be respected and represented well or it will look insensitive. I know jaxx wasn't trying to be racist and I could tell that she tried her hardest to make it as historical correct as possible. But she should've known better than to have a trope that is so controversial in an already controversial historical topic. It's kinda sad that she got dead threats over this and all the community had to do was just educate her on the topic. It's so refreshing to see Korean artists care about their western audience. Nonetheless, it was a good decision of hers to end it now and apologize for her mistakes, in fact, I would honestly also respect her if she brings back the bl and rewrite the whole because that's really all it needed. She could've read more into American history because it's okay to have a romance story take place in this time period, but romanizing an enslaved person with their master is not it. She just needs to put more thought into it, that's all

I think that's a really harmful way to look at BL. It reduces an entire genre to "porn" and ignores that BL has long been used to tell complex, emotional, and sometimes historically grounded stories. Queer stories shouldn't be treated as inherently less capable of engaging with difficult topics than heterosexual ones.

I we are cancelling this let’s also cancel all inbred mangas, all rape, all slave master, all murder trope, all domestic violence, all kidnap trope OOOP- we are left with NOTHING!
