Hun, the age of consent in italy (where the story was placed) is 14 years old. So they can have sex/relationship as long as it's consent.

Possibly questionable on the part of the older party, but definitely not pedophilia, which involved attraction to pre-pubescent children. Your average 17 year is well past that point. It's also not even illegal in many places. Age of consent here is 16.
