Is that although it’s realistic, I wish there could come a day where cheongrok and jaegyu could love each other openly and brag about each other without holding back…. They deserve happiness. I think this is a rare story where realism is used to a pretty good effect (I still think it’s stupendous how they creator managed to write a fan x actor story in a completely believable and sane romantic way without making it seem like self insert) but I wish I could see a side where cheongrok gets to openly brag about his amazing lover who might as well have hung the moon and the stars.
I didn’t think this story needed a second volume because the first itself was a very mature and realistic take on a ridiculous premise with an interesting couple. I was wrong.
The second volume does so much in 5 chapters that it’s astounding. Izumi keeps insisting his trauma isn’t a big deal, but it really is. Being constantly compared and never having your hard work appreciated cuts a lot, especially when you live with the person you are compared too. You can’t ask them to be anything but the themselves, but not being as good and being neglected for it is horrid. I felt bad for his brother too. Although he saw what was happening, he too was a child and unable to understand how to help Izumi. It’s a very human depiction of a complicated, even if commonplace, situation.
Sendo and Izumi’s relationship feels very real because they are enamoured with each other and seek understanding and togetherness. They give off a sense of ‘I can really see a relationship like this working out forever’ sort of feeling because of how sincere they feel as lovers. It’s really remarkable. I cried a lot in this volume. Great read. I’m glad sendo could help Izumi heal, even if just a little for now.
That rapist is going to end up with the poor pure hearted manager I hate when a rapist is rewarded in such stories with being one of the people in the secondary couple it’s so disgusting… it would be better for the story to lean more into him being a nuisance and getting comeuppance but I know it won’t happen. Man.
Genuinely I don’t think I’ve seen someone truly understand what real love is like in a manhwa and actual depict it. Fictional romance is easy enough to write, but this is someone who understands how love irl works. How people fit into each other’s lives and what they bring to the table. It’s stupendous how grounded this manhwa is, and it is made all the better for it. This is perhaps THE college age romance manhwa.
The red thread rock being shocked that kihoon’s friend thinks yeon probably hasn’t even had his first kiss yet when he’s done *pointing at everything* with kihoon and kihoon taking being turned down so badly he’s crying as he scores goals are both such hilarious bits of writing lmaoooo.
Also the creator isn’t slick about how much they like kihoon’s design bc although once in a while it happens celebrating a goal by flipping your jersey over you head isn’t usual. I do love how it’s funny and horny posting at the same time though, clearly they wanted to show off kihoon’s body but also make it hilarious with the tear stains.its hilarious that kihoon is getting rejected bc yeon still like him obviously, but in a ‘I remember our shared history and love you forever and ever’ sort of way.

Crazy when you’re in a ‘being down bad for my crush’ competition and your opponent is your crush himself lmaoooo.
I saw that reel just now lmao
This is the best dynamic ever
