Modern day setting
FL is a PD/Writer i think. She works in the entertainment industry. But something happened with work that made her escape to her home town
She goes back to her hometown to take a break.
In her mom shop (provincial convenience store)
A guy which is the ML was tending the shop
She notice that the ML looks like an actor
And the ML was in fact a famous actor who was also escaping to the province.
Actor is staying at her mom's house
This a smut manhwa.
I was such a huge fan of BL/Yaoi during the pademic and a few years after it. And I genuinely loved stories like Sign, 10 years I loved you the most, Love or Hate, Dangerous Convenience Store, On or Off, POTN, and a lot more around that era.
And I haven't touched it since.
I also just stopped reading Manga/Manhwa in general and recently got back to it a few months ago.
It does feel a little bit overwhelming especially because there are tons and tons of new titles.
And I am even learning about new verses now?
I only knew about Omegaverse back then
To all BL/Yaoi readers,
Do you feel like BL/Yaoi are a lot better now?
And would love to get recs on your favorite titles that are on the newer side. Thank you!
It’s become a lot more popular and I especially love how people can just joke about it now. Like I saw this tik tok of this guy trolling his coworker that doesn’t read bl and that he forgot to take his heat suppresents and how he was attracting the “alphas” lmao it was so funny. I think it’s become really mainstream in a good way since there’s more lgbtq representation
I personally think that theres so much smut and grape in the new bl stories. Unlike a few years back, it has good plot with smut as a bonus. Im not saying there arent any good manhwas/manga, it was just different back then. I recs these stories tho!

i wouldn’t say that it’s better now, but there have been great ones that i’d say prevents me from saying that the past era was its peak. manhwas like one room ta, a first of summers, our sunny days, punch drunk love, honey bear, melting point are SOOOO good and i’ve definitely enjoyed them much better than my past faves in that era (from the titles you’ve mentioned)
here are some other recs

It has been very hard out here. I have been reading and watching stuff since I was like 11. I started back again during the pandemic after I wasted all my money on sims expansion packs and there were a lot of good stories out. Now there’s surprise gang rapes that you never see coming like “ Are we just seeing each other for your looks? (Yaoi)” which absolutely ruined me this year. I have been reading isekai princess stories ever since just trying to get my mind right. I have a ton of lists because I’m here most of the hours of the day because this is my only hobby and I have a desk job and I’m not allowed to watch my own TV because it’s got baby shark on it all the time. My list called Classics is very good. I recommend “ Why Are You So Kind To Everyone Except Me? (Yaoi)”
Girllll, back then incest, rape, pedophilia, and everything was accepted and normalized lol even cheating. You'd be reading a yaoi manga, and bam. Suddenly ml just goes and fks someone else. And the mc? Phew, just some little idiot doormats, and they would forgive the ml right away within a few panels. Even the popular bl animes back then we're pedophilia LOLL
I wish SPOON would work on more stories like 'who made me a princess'.
I just finished this one last night and I was surprised that this story was ongoing from 2017. It just felt like it was ahead of its time. Their art style was genuinely so so good that other works is just hard to compare. And of course credits to the author of original stories too.
I do see SPOON has other works too which I would soon read.
Other stories that I truly believe compares in quality of story and art would be
I Became the Wife of the Male Lead
The Broken Ring
Baby Tyrant
It's just SOOOOOO cute how all stories started out with the characters as cute little chubby faced children.
This is true for some Manhwa. Anyone else not a fan of characters resembling famous people especially Kpop idols. I was reading this Manhwa and I like the art it's pretty but I got thrown off when I realize it looks like korean celebs. It just ruins the immersion for me because now I can't help but correlated the character to the idol.
ML and FL look like V of BTS and Wonyoung hahah
Do you guys have preference?
I think among the 3. I feel like Manhwas right now are my most read but it's also because most uploads are Manhwas right?
But I feel like it's also depends on your mood type shit
Manga - a lot of poignant, sentimental
Manhua - Good at comedy, cute romance
Manhwa - good at romance, very digestible
And in terms of art style, After reading so much I think at least for me, it's obvious when it's Manhua, Manhwa, or Manga. (I mean Manga is pretty obvious 98% of the time it will be B&W)
manga = manhwa >>>>>> manhua
there are mangas that have really good and unique plots, but it's balanced out by some really bland, low quality works. mangas still have a special place in my heart though, and i would always prefer reading non-bl mangas over non-bl manhwas
there are also manhwas that have really good and unique plots, and the general baseline is generally better quality than the low quality mangas even though they're formulaic and dependent on trends. but manhwas usually have a bigger fanbase with more comments and with more commenters you get more complaints or moralising, which sours my reading experience
i don't enjoy (bl) manhuas at all - i find manhua characters two dimensional and manhua plots too over the top or power fantasy-like. i also have issues with the pacing of manhuas where somehow it feels less of a story being told and more like the characters going through the motions until the next major scene. yes i've read popular manhuas like little mushroom, kiss the abyss, 10 years i loved you the most, 19 days, mo dao zu shi etc and no, they haven't changed my mind (but they did contribute to my non-preference for manhuas)
art style wise they're all good
I like manga the best. I like the common formula of 5 chapters + 1 extra that most volumes follow, with each volume having one arc. I like the going page by page instead of continuous scrolling. I also like the black and white drawings because they can be more detailed at times.
I like Manhwa second. Still quite enjoyable most of the time, but chapters often end in cliffhangers which I don't find very enjoyable.
I like Manhua last. I love 19 Days and Tamen De Gushi with all my heart, but the censorship of gay relationships in most manhua makes me sad and turned away from reading it when I know I'll never see the characters kiss in a story I read.
I guess long story short I like predictability and smut
Just like you've said it depends on the mood shit.
if ur horny and looking for short bangers then manga.
if u wanna feel like a teenager kid who wanna fantasize about puppy love then manhua.
if u want both feelings, horny then fast pace stories then manhwa.
but it depends on genres though. this is similar to the person who replied 1st.
I have been loving Who Made Me a Princess, Baby Tyrant, and Author of my Life. Is there any other Manhwas like this?
I feel like these type of stories had been healing my fatherless angst that I have in my cold heart
try these (▰˘◡˘▰)

I remember there was a funny Manga of a girl seeing ghost. Something similar would be awesome. Horror Comedy or full on horror. Psycho thriller is also good but no gore. Lol I am getting old so anything gore makes me weak. Thank you~

Its horror/comedy binary is a bit unique, but it's good.

Some of the art just makes the body look so stiff
I can't explain it but it looks like a barbie doll and that kind of ruins it for me.
There are cetain art that makes it look like the characters have soft body and those ones are good ones.
I use to think I just hate characters that have unrealistically big boobs but naaah
Few good example of well drawn smut
Trust me I'm lying
Not without reason
Succubus wants to be lewd
Hunks, Harem, and hardcore habits
Flowers are Bait
Smut that looks like their bodies are hard/sharp/stiff
Noise Between the walls
A female student that provides service
Boss with Benefits
Just my sleepy musing
Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
OMG YEAH, I agree also some arts gen js doesn't look very appealing when it's smut
SAME! I love when an author includes belly rolls, hip dips, uneven boobs that actually follow gravity, regular ish body proportions etc.
Also I find with the more stiff smut it always feels so bright and sterile, like we always see their entire body without much change in angle/posing and it feels unnatural. Doesn’t quite capture the intimacy of the moment ykwim?
And don’t even get me started on when the artist spams those really specific facial expression over and over. like the top always has that clenched teeth furrowed brow look and the girl/bottom has their eyes shut and their mouth open, and it’s like that in EVERY panel. And they kisses be dry as fuck too..
I sound crazy but I have no other way to describe this and it drives me insane
Omg yeeeees you have described it perfectly. These features that actually exist in human body. I guess that's why classical paintings are so beautiful just because it actually captures that 'softness' of the human body.
