Ian is very deeply insecure and i believe the manipulation stems from that too. So he seems like hes just manipulating him for fun but i genuinely think its because hes painfully insecure of himself. There are points lord anatold proves his insecurities wrong time and time again by just wanting to treat him as his wife and loving him regardless, and ian misunderstands that awkwardness/shyness as disliking him/being around him, even if it seems like hes just saying these things to emotionally manipulate.
Ian has the most horrific past in the novels that i ever read of, idk if they will go on the webtoon with everything as the things he did and was made to do are is super far outside the confort zone of most people but is understandable that his personality is the way it is.

Absolutely true. What breaks my heart most isn't just the horrific abuse Ian endured, but how he was repeatedly denied his humanity. He was treated as an object or a sin that shouldn't exist, sometimes not even called by his name. It's no wonder those experiences shaped how he sees himself.
