ML has the typical 'evil sunbae who traumatizes the mc and makes it hard for mc to trust men' personality. Its kinda hard to feel any sympathy for a manipulator like him.
I rarely see yaois with important women characters (who aren't mom/grandmas of the mcs) and I really like ga eul's character so far. I love how this story takes the plot and world building seriously by utilizing the other characters well.
Its seems their problems are really simple to solve. This kind of abusive contract will absolutely not fly in court lol. The bodyguards could just sue Chase, get their money, and be done with everything. Especially for the guy who was kicked off the heli.
The author really likes writing psycho red flag tops whose only saving grace are their looks. In all these 'kiss me' series, I never liked any of the tops, but i continued to read cause the art is nice
Honestly you'll probably love Chase later in to the manhwa, and if we're talking abt red flags, Chase is the mildest red flag by this author and you can even say Joshua is the bigger red flag between them both.. according to Desire Me If You Can side stories
TBF, in kiss me liar, i disliked both main characters it seems author only knows how to write red flags. I wonder whats going on in his/her brain lol
Chase is the least psycho tbh, and a cinnamon bun at heart. He was aggressive towards everyone, Josh was no exception, but once he fell for Josh he became a totally whipped simp baby girl. His aggressive personality at the beginning is explained a bit better in the novels, but it’s trauma from his brother’s abuse + he never released his pheromones at those sex parties etc, and the build up affects their brains (according to this world’s lore). Basically, he was never inclined that way, and used to be a super sweet and gentle kid.
The other tops in this universe fall for the bottom and start kidnapping, isolating, hunting them down, and abusing them… they’re like psychos from the moment they’re born lol
Did the author decide to change the plot midway? lol. At first mc says he has a trauma from the ml because the ml broke up with him out of the blue. And later when they confront each other in ch 6, it turns out they were never together, and ml pounced on the mc out of the blue while they were friends and mc was dating someone else. So where the hell did his "break up" trauma come from? This is so fcking werid lol.
I think it's translation error. The mistranslated of "break up" here would be the end of their relationship as "friend". Cause if you read it there's a scene where mc saying that ml ask mc to live together so ml can sleep with mc (of course that's just how mc thought) and that's why they parted ways and mc cut off his communication with ml for 10 years
I actually don't think its a translation error, because the dialogue goes back to the "break up" term later on when he can't say the phrase to his (ex) boyfriend due to trauma. I seriously think the author just changed his mind and made up a shitty explanation like "friend break up" to make up for it. Either way, it seems very poorly written.
Since I was so curious, I look up at the raw and here what I get.
The first chapter where the flashback show that ML asking "should we break up" was actually written as "우리 잘래?" In the raws and it's actually means "shall we sleep together?" which is match with the flashback where ML and MC about to be together in latest chapter (I forgot, I think it's 7?8?).
And their relationship from the start was just friend. What makes MC trauma is because ML was the one asking MC to live together and they did live together well just like a good roommates. When ML suddenly asking to do sex and somehow forcing it to MC it leaves a bitter memory to MC and think that ML asking him to living together so that ML could sleep together with MC and just want MC body.
So the summary is... It is a mistranslation

This kind of story gives me low-grade anxiety lol. Not too much, because the pace is chill. Plot is really good (so far)
Everyone can calm down, it's just a 5-year age gap. They got together when they were adults, even though Taeyang had a crush for a long time. I feel like a lot of comments are focusing too much on that, and not how their experiences as children made them who they are as adults.
Damn, I was actually shocked they had so much history together. Taeyang is such a trooper for being so dedicated in love even after Jiwan broke his heart in such a brutal manner. I was a little annoyed at Jiwan at first, but his trauma is so valid, and I can understand him for taking extreme measures to discourage a very persistent and lovable Taeyang. I still don't agree with what he did, but I understand it.
But no one ever complains about the 20yr age gap when women start to date their friends dads!
So rare to find a bl manwha where the protagonists are two regular humans without any psycho tendencies lol. Hope it stays that way, they are so adorable.
I like the MC. He actually stood up for himself properly a few times, and he was straightforward with his feeling towards 2nd ML. You rarely see that in these types of manwhas.
