I’m totally in love with this side story, I was always wondering what Xiaolan was up too since she was the MCs friend, but now we get to see it including more depth to her character, and a LOVE INTEREST!! (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
And eventually , the story of where she disappears from the palace.

You all do realize that this is loosely based on medieval times. Those curtains are not light at all. They are very heavy plus you also have to add on the fact it's a blacked out curtain and the actual size of said curtain for that window

I think it's something more like him actually being poor or his brother putting his family on a huge debt and no one knows, BUT this manga has surprised me quite a bit so far, so I think it's definitely possible (and it would be really cool)!
I don't think that's the case, the hints we have show it's more likely due to his family, financial status, or background. That theory would probably align more with the Princess, and even then the hints are up to interpretation.
