So far the movie they are filming is based on Jowoon and Heasoo's relationship. Jowoon is playing a more caring version of himself. The sentence can be rewritten as:
"As an author I am the only one who knows it will work out in the end. The characters and readers have know idea"
This is just a guess but I really think that the movie is meant to show the ending of this manga.
How does that equate to Jowoon being chosen? The author pretty much stated that she only knows the ending. Because the movie is a parallel to Jowoon and Heasoo does not automatically show that they are endgame. Even by the author's note at the end if the season leaves a gray area. You cannot base it off that.

Yeah, I had to read it a couple of times before I sorta understood it, but it's what the above poster said. Though I still don't quite get the conversation between the uke and the ex, starting with "do you know who you are" and the ex saying someone was bored. Whatever it meant, the upshot was that they'd have sex only once. Then the uke fell asleep while waiting for the ex to finish a phone call and apparently the seme found him and took him back to his place. Where hot sex ensued.

It's the translation. I remember reading other scan from instagram and understood perfectly what they were saying.
to clear some confusions for my bad translating!! So doyoon needs essence so his friend recommended he have a sort of one night stand with his ex because him and the director hadnt had any sex for a while. When Dooyon met his ex, his ex said that doyoon had used the 'excuse' of being a half vampire to break up with him *thinking doyoon had just bee lying*. Later, his ex asked for him back, knowing that doyoon was kinda seeing another man (thats where my translating got bad since I wasnt sure what he was saying) and doyoon ending saying "ok well do it once then". They book into a hotel and his ex has to take a call so he leaves doyoon on the couch and he passes out. He wakes up in the directors house (so obviously mr director was stalking doyoon or something to bring him home thats why the director said "I came to collect my sweetheart") Doyoon urges to the director to not get mad because he 'needs' their FWB 'relationship' to live so the director concludes that hes basically telling him that he cant live without sex. (Not totally believing it) and is like "well ok ill give you what you want then" (〜￣△￣)〜
