Was it cool that the princess wanted lily sent in her place? No. But it isn’t like she specifically arranged it either. And the way i see it, lily was just as willing to watch them send marion off as well. And marion was willing to lie to save herself for the same reason lily was lying. Instead of viewing the princess as evil and deserving of punishment, i think it’s more important to recognize that a bunch of men were selling off scared girls who just wanted to survive. Marion getting her hair yanked out and wedding disrupted was punishment enough
I'm honestly really happy that they showed she was scared too, she wasnt a scheming woman who did all this to make her maids life a living hell. Its refreshing to see a story where its not just a completely evil woman just for the sake of plot.
