The end was something like seme sitting on the stairs where the uke and seme first met and like he said something like: it won't be bad if i fall for you, in that direction, or: try make me fall for you. The anime wasn't nearly as bad as others say. The problem is when the manga is that good, replicating it as an anime equally good isn't going to meet their own expectations.

Romance anime I gave 9/10 on MAL (and I almost NEVER give anything 9/10):
- ef: A Tale of Memories is a heartbreaking (but happy-ending) brilliant and I 100% recommend it. You get so emotionally invested with the characters. If you're looking for a good romance anime that's not your typical anime romance plot, then this is the anime to watch. The sequel is also good, though one of the main couples ends in tragedy
- Mikakunin de Shinkoukei is funny and unique, and though it has some cliches, it recycles them and use them in new and amusing ways. Cute romance, interesting plot and great humor.
- Steins;Gate. I know, I know, it's not a romance anime, but the story is really amazing and there IS romance in it. The main couple is so ship-able and it's just an absolutely amazing series. You can watch the movie sequel, too, which is definitely more-romancey.
So yeah, I really recommend all of those which I romanced.
Yeah, a lot of anime these days are only meant to tease you and get you to read the direct source, which is widely available for that series.
My Little Monster/Tonari no Kaibatsu-kun is one of my personal favorites.
