I feel like a lot of yall are so stuck on them getting better or finding a solution but i kind of like it like this. Not everything going to have a happy ending and im not glorifying it or anything but people stay together for worse in real life I don't know I just wouldn't go into this, or continue reading this hoping they somehow change their ways. The toxicity makes it interesting. I've read soooo much yaoi over the years and it's not uncommon to see some back and forth crazy shit then they end up fr liking each other. I think they just trauma bonding at this point, like licking each others wounds type shit
As someone who is invested into this because I relate strongly to the premise, a deeply traumatised person dating another deeply traumatised person, both of us having different demons, I really hope they do get better. I say this out of a hope for traumatised people like myself and my partner, as we are typically seen as broken and unable to be stable and happy. Let alone being gay as well.
I do see the value and interest in having the story stay toxic because realistically it does happen, I also feel like its such a grim message to gay traumatised people who seek love comfort and stability.
Luckily, in my relationship it’s been the most stable and healthy relationship of my life, and despite the struggles both he and I face, I have healed immensely and pushed to get better for him. We never have argued, we have had discussions where we disagree, but we respect our differences on those rare matters. Generally we have the same sentiments and opinions despite being very different in taste, personality, and approach to life. We are polar opposites in some ways, but our relationship feels even deeper than love. It’s not like we just enjoy eachothers company, its like “this is the only person who understands me, this is my other half. My soulmate, my happiness embodied”.
And I think it’s because we understand the pain eachother has gone through to an extent others can not reach.
