As someone who has done the same and befriended plenty of people with lies just say the truth and Ik it might be hard but it’s the better thing to do. Though they might cut ties with you ; if you value the relationship then just disappear (the alter ego u) but do it in a natural way. Stop responding as fast and give more dry responses.
