Honestly the main thing I keep seeing from these comments are like defending the “boyfriend” because the relationship with the fl and the duke. The “boyfriend” was a shitter from the beginning, he used the fl’s trauma of being a lonely child after losing both her mother and father as a way to earn her trust and sleep with her before ultimately leaving her. While I do agree the situation between her and the duke is disgusting and disturbing, she went through all of that to find a way home for the both of them. And if he actually cared about her, seeing her sleep with another man would be concerning and shocking seeing as she clearly looked distressed instead of brimming with joy or love, instead he tried to force himself onto her. Also her “falling in love” with the duke is giving Stockholm Syndrome nothing more nothing less. Yeah, he didn't get to sleep with her and abandon her, like he'd planned. But he still was stuck depending on her to find the way back to their world, because the only hope they had was the former marchioness's diary would have that info, and out of the two of them, the fl was the only one who could get a job *inside* the house, and thus get close to the diary.
