for people asking what’s going to happen, here’s a messy but detailed explanation of the (probable) ending for the first season,
Michelle and ian stop being intimate, which makes michelle feel devastated, he is having a really hard time coping with the fact that “ain” is right and they should end it there, and becomes bitter with resentment for the indirect rejection. he throws childish tantrums, and tells ian to go away, until they have to part ways… the night before he has to leave, he has a nightmare about marrying the lord and “ain” looking at him at the distance, congratulating him and saying he has to teach someone else now. It’s so upsetting for michelle that he runs to look for the servant, quite literally looking everyone while screaming his name, and when he finds him he begs ian to let him in but the servant clearly doesn’t want him there, even closing the door, he attempts to command ian to open the door, and ian replies he isn’t his master yet, which makes michelle feel even more pathetic than before, but he doesn’t care and says he won’t move until ian lets him in. It does work, and ian lets him in
Michelle shyly offers the ring his grandmother left him; ian basically says no but michelle argues that he will throw it away if he doesn’t accept the gift. After a bit of bickering (ian has a soft spot for the tantrums michelle throws, so he often indulges him or teases him about it), michelle confesses that he only wants “ain” and he wants them to run away together (this is really important because it also means Michelle realises that he is becoming what he denied the whole time, and that he is like any other southern). Ian doesn’t like it, he doesn’t let Michelle finish, literally covering his mouth and telling him to stop. He is harsh about it, and warns Michelle the north isn’t forgiving and the walls has ears, so he has to be careful about what he says to others, even if it’s “ain”.
He gets rejected… AGAIN, and ian basically says he’s confused because michelle has only been with him for too long, and since he took his first time, it made Michelle mistook those feelings for love. while moving back to bed, he tells ian about the dream he had, and says he doesn’t want to see “ain” sleeping with other people under the lord’s orders. the goes into a monologue, he even shuts ian up, and promises to become a better man, to grow in size, and mature, and insists he doesn’t want to see ian with anyone nor to sleep with the lord who he is supposed to marry (lmao) and begs him AGAIN to please just accept his feelings, and if you guessed ian rejects him again, you’re right. he is like “im so thankful for these feelings, bit those words shouldn’t be directed at me.” And then says a bunch of hurtful stuff, trying to diminish Michelle’s feelings; this a thing ian does a lot throughout the novel, he just can’t help but edge people and push on their buttons, but for ian is so much enjoyable when it’s Michelle or his younger sister, it’s borderline mean but you can somehow see it as a sign of “affection” or… his way of showing “he cares” (besides, at this point, he is really waiting for michelle to make a mistake, so as ian calls it “he can have a terrible accident” if michelle were to show a horrific new face and take advantage of his status). Well, Michelle is like: I do not care, i want to know how you feel about us, awkward… because he immediately stars begging for “ain’s” love, even if it’s a little bit, he just begs for affection and then offers his body, as in if you can’t like me for being me, then what about loving how i look? then he asks for a kiss, ian says no. Michelle begins to bargain, so he says okay, i will marry the lord tomorrow but sleep with me one more time, he begs for “ain” to spend a night together but pretending he is Michelle’s bride, just for the last time so he can show “ain” his love and bid farewell. They do spend the night together, where ian keeps poking fun at michelle, asking him if isn’t just horniness what he’s feeling and he couldn’t control the sexual urges. And michelle denies it.
They share a last meaningful conversation about mothers, michelle asks about the passing of ian’s mothers and michelle talks about not remembering much about his own mother since she passed away when he was young, and while talking michelle falls asleep.
At morning, ian is ready to part ways. Ian dresses michelle with the same clothes he arrived in, and told him the master would like to see him wearing the same clothes he wore when first coming here. Ian says michelle is always welcomed back, which makes michelle feel bad.
On their way, michelle begins to cry, after singing a song from the south, and begs ian to run away again, because he doesn’t want to go with the lord. And then asks to be taken home. Ian hugs him, and dotes on him, saying how brave he is and how strong for holding on for so long. He begins to feel insecure saying how the lord wont like him but ian assures him, the lord will like him. And for the last time michelle says, he would rather die knowing he loved “ain” than have never known how it felt, because it means he knows about love and will be able to love the lord.
The sister of the lord comes to meet him, for a second michelle mistakes her for the lord, after they greet each other michelle asks for the lord, and katya (the sister) looks at “ain” and calls him brother. Michelle is like whaaaat, ain what is she saying? And katya (who has similar ways with his brother when it’s about expressing themselves) goes: “oh my, that’s lord sheleg, how come you don’t know after sharing all this time together?”
And that’s the ending of the first volume of the novel, it’s probably the ending of the first season of the manwha too

ITS FINALLY HERE AGHHHH, I love them so much, it’s so sweet. i can read this over and over again and never get tired of it
