Introducing the social/personal dilemma of being in a gay relationship for an established straight character is real tricky to do, and I find authors always go for that one random acquaintance who just appears out of nowhere to blurt a bunch of incendiary nonsense. No other way to do it I guess, but the entire interaction with Vance felt so out of place and jarring. Oh well, this should help push Andrew and Luke closer together, I hope
I don't think it really matters how the issue is triggered. They're not really straight, but I think Stranger by the shore navigates it pretty well.
It does to me because it interrupts the organic flow imo. Evidently this issue will come up because Bruno has the pictures of Andrew and Luke. Itās more a personal āickā tbh with using a random fucker who isnāt going to appear ever again just to push the conflict along.

How should it happen?
It started off well enough with Andrew not wanting to hold hands in public to spare Luke. But it could have been comments floating around, Luke having to witness homophobia or being pulled into that kind of ācontroversialā conversation with his friends while Andrew overhears or is actually there to hear Lukeās opinion. What I mean is, there are organic ways to set up this conflict than to stick in some old classmate weirdo who just starts talking nonsense without any context. I get there may be people who are like that, but in these stories they always only appear for one reason.
This story is going right in the ācould have been a good four starsā category. I donāt even know where to begin; the art is literally the only reason majority of us are still here any way because the plot has gone completely down the gutter.
Beom could have been a great seme but heās just as insensitive as deokchil. Sure, we know he likes Hui-Jae but heās never even properly apologized for doing what he did in the first season. Neither does he completely take responsibility for the fact that he caused Hui-Jaeās trauma (after finding out everything).
In the end he tells Hui-Jae his real name andā¦thatās it??? Thereās too much pointless smut in this story and Iām not vibing with it anymore.

Yeah, the story is what it is. I thought things were getting interesting when they added The red hair guy to the mix, But now that the series is over. Would the love triangle keep the series going? I don't think so. It was a fun read But it was time to end.
I donāt think weāll ever get anything. I saw the last few chapters and if you donāt mind spoilers, Beom disappears AGAIN after he finds out about Hui-Jaeās issue and when Hui-Jae goes back to the island, Beom reappears after a month. They donāt even have a proper conversation and Beomās taking him again and they have sex, which is when Beom whispers his real name to Hui-Jae. He asks him if the whole āIāll take care of youā is still on the table and I suppose thatās enough to make Hui-Jae forgive him??
I wonāt criticize Hui-Jae too much because heās young, naive and this is his first relationship. But Beom definitely took advantage of that.
I thought so too, but unfortunately nothing really came of it. Both love interests are shitty men, lol. Hui-Jae deserves so much better.

So for those who are curious, Iād recommend reading the novel if you donāt mind Mukyeom being trash for the beginning chapters. The story is actually pretty good, Mukyeom is very stubborn about acknowledging his feelings though they spill out in obvious ways like him getting possessive/jealous.
However, the yearning/chase arc is EXCELLENT. Hajoon is no pushover and Mukyeom had to seriously WORK to get back into his good graces. At one point I thought itād end with them just reconciling their differences and moving on. But the reconciliation was well done. Mukyeom learns how to be accountable for his actions and is actually quite sweet.

It is actually, I was impressed. However, there are parts where the perspective switches to first-person so it can be a bit jarring to figure out whose POV it is.
