I agree with you, Alter. Like putting aside who likes this and who doesn't like that, the point stands that this book was VERY clear from the beginning what it would be about. I could probably count on my fingers all the times there's been clear consent between Hana and the demons. All of them, including Lux.

This entire series is a fever dream of dubious consent. Because even when Hana gives into Lux despite being scared or reluctant but doing it out of "love" that still falls under the category of dubious consent. Especially once she's under the influence of their aphrodisiac saliva. You can't properly consent when you're essentially drugged. Which is what an aphrodisiac is and it happens every single time she kisses them or comes into contact with their saliva.


Then there's the more blatant moments like Lux forcing her into heat against her will (just like Caligo) and taking her. People don't have to like Caligo, but let's not pretend he's doing anything different. She went to him to save Lux and agreed to do whatever he wanted if he helps her get the tears. He does and stops once the tears come.

She goes to him AGAIN, knowing what he's like and what he wants and goes into a contract with him. (This man literally looked her in the face and said, "let me inside you and shed hot tears as you tremble in shame and arousal underneath me" like hello? Couldn't have been more clear of his intentions and she still sought him out a second time.) Now she thinks he's her boyfriend and is having the same type of dubious sex she's always had with Lux, with Cali.

So I'm not understanding what the heck is happening in the comments. If you're gonna hate the book because of what's happening with Cali, then you need to hate the entire book including the Lux scenes.

And for those that might bring up the fact that Cali is emotionally manipulative, yes. Hence the dubious in the consent and guess what? So is Lux and Pass.

So that's just how I see it. None of these demons, literally hellfire morally wrong demons, are good guys here. In fact, this book is such a good depiction of what demons are supposed to be like. Cunning, manipulative, morally grey if not pitch black, etc.

So people don't have to like the concept of the book. I completely get that this might be too much for some. But then this is simply not the book for them and I don't get reading it and then getting so pressed they're fighting days on end in the comments

There is a different between angst and rape. I love fluff along with gore, angst, and bittersweet or hardcore stories. Rape crosses that line that absolutely doesn’t need to be crossed. I was genuinely wondering if you even noticed this shit had sexual assault. I don’t understand how standing up for morals is immature. Defending a story that normalizes rape and sexual assault is immature. A bitch can like a heavy ass story, but only an asshole defends a story where people get raped and they try and make it okay. I thought you just didn’t realize that sexual assault was accuring.
