I honestly feel like a lot of you need to learn how to embrace complex characters and the conflicting emotions they bring. To meet him with such vitriol just doesn't make any sense when you factor in his own trauma and history. The two of them are very flawed individuals with heavy past attempting to make a life together. It will not be easy and cannot be done without them clashing.

When did this become a hey lets lecture the person who went out of their way to answer another random persons question on other peoples actions of hate towards a fictional character. Did in any part of my message say i was mad or angry at riftan sure I think he is a 5% idiot but I love him and max especially together. See that's where I'm seeing the misconception tbh. He had a perfectly reasonable response to the love of his life secretly planning to leave him. How long ago was it that he thought she hated him and went back to her father to get away from him and he only found out about it all by pure chance? Personally, I'd never want to let my wife go either if that happened to us. How long ago was it that Max almost died via mass blood loss and miscarriage because she pushed herself too hard being a badass? Not enough time has passed between these events for him to have any more measured a response than doing every deranged thing he can think of to keep her safe.

Max isn't even choosing herself. Not wholly. And he doesn't see it that way. He wants her to choose herself, but he wants her to love herself. She is doing this because she wants to prove herself, and wants to protect him.

I just don't get it. They're both good people who love each other so much, it's so flipping rare for an ml to not be a pile of shit why are there haters ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
