I usually put summary of last chapter read on my personal comment section or review section (whatever it's called it's where you write a comment after choosing want to read, reading or already read so comment is right above the story's summary) after reading so when I come back I can read the summary and notes of what happened and continue from there.
With so many ongoing stories my brain can't keep up and I'm tired of re reading so I had to result to this
That's only for short waits though. If the ongoing story doesn't update for months or years then you'll have to re read
