That's really the point of this manga of you think about it. Personally it makes me think "oh no they don't have hopes" and then something happens that changes that thought. I would have never guessed isagi would come off as a "rebel" which makes things more exciting for me. The manga is just centered around the mc overcoming obstacles in ways some don't expect. And also the competition now is one that he can't really afford to lose, it's a big deal. Maybe that's why?

But you're right. It is pretty predictable

Yeah it's definitely repetitive however the focus of each arc isn't a 'will he won't he win?' but rather the main conflict is in Isagi's ideals and others ideals as they all seek self-improvement. The conflict between various philosophies and how they use their knew understandings from their rivals to become more skilled and powerful is inspiring imo.

Just from the summary of the first manga u could probably guess that isagi will eventually win the world cup, but the tournament style of this manga (which is naturally repetitive) is the tool not the idea.

While I see where this take is coming from, I disagree with it. If you start seeing Blue Lock as a manual for achieving greatness, seeing Isagi overcome his weaknesses real-time becomes a blessing in plain sight. He is not magically winning and figuring some voodoo out. It's not magic, people. He is systematically re-evaluating his current logic, rationale, systems/models of thinking, and beliefs and updating them according to his observations and experiences. The human brain is constantly trying to create models for everything; it's how we make sense of the seeming chaos. This is how people become the best at whatever they do, though, and that's the beauty of Blue Lock. It's a systematic way of living your life to its fullest potential. Unironically, this manga isn't about soccer as much as it is about showing readers how they can become a better version of themselves.

But, maybe only keen eyes can discern the difference. Keenness doesn't have anything to do with intelligence, but it does have to do with attention. Perhaps, if you find it difficult to resolve your frustrations with the narrative in this manga, adjust the scope of your attention and modify your perspective when reading with a new lens.

ooou okayy i actually really get this. i think my frustration stems from how easy they make it seem though, everything always happens in one match, and of course it’s all working towards an overall story i just think they’re reprocessing the same ideas. isagi as a character works amazingly well as an underdog, which he was at the beginning of the manga and thats what made a lot of people (LIKE MEEE) fall in love with him. i think the mangaka knows this and so he just tries to reproduce the same formula which is “make isagi underdog then make him win”. even now that he’s the shining star of blue lock, mid-match theyve found a way to make him an underdog and im sure when he has his big moment and he ‘evolves’ he’ll be on top again only for him to become the bottom again half-way into the next match. it feels like a kind of cheap way to go about his rise and development. but i get what you’re saying i think maybe ill just take a break from blue lock and refresh some time later.
