Have y’all watched the new ‘The vampire Lestat’ szn yet? And if so what are y’all’s opinion on it? Did his relationship w/ Gabrielle shock you? What are y’all’s thoughts?
I already knew about his relationship with Gabrielle but honestly seeing it on the show just made me uncomfortable and disgusted. However, i understand the thought process behind including such shocking relationship. Anne rice wanted to show that vampirism is beyond morality. And the bond between a maker and a fledgling alters any dynamic you had before turning, since blood drinking is equal to sex in the vampire world. The whole thing is still weird and Gabriella still gives me the creeps but the show so far is good so i am just choosing to ignore it
Same! I knew what I was getting into but the ending of ep one when they reunited made my stomach turn. I do feel like it was important to not ignore this part of Lestat’s story b/c it is an important part of who he is. Gabrielle is definitely strange on her part for initiating the relationship when they were still humans. Either way I’m still excited to see the rest of the szn unfold! Have you watched episode 3 yet?
I definitely miss Louis’ narrations bcuz they had kind of a romantic feel to it. But he did have decades to practice how he would tell this almost romanticized version of events. Lestat is a mess and just gives it straight to the viewer. It is very interesting to see this contrast of narrative direction. I remember ppl saying how they can’t wait to see Lestat’s version of events, a lot of ppl thought he might be a more reliable narrator but he has alr refused to address things or just lie (mostly abt Gabrielle) probably for obvious reason. I definitely agree abt there being emotional abuse. I hope we can touch up on that in later episodes too.
Yess i watched ep 3 and so far it's the best one this season. The parallels between Lestat and Claudia was both heartbreaking and eye opening. Since now we know for sure that Lestat would've never threatened Claudia with SA BUT also everyone is an unreliable narrator in this show, like do we honestly believe that Lestat treated Armand that way and he let it slide ? Not me lol. Also Gabrielle pushing Lestat boundaries when he tried to stop their rs is just
Yess, that scene was beautifully done. I’m still not sure whether to believe Claudia’s telling of events or Lestat’s, honestly conflicted b/c I feel like I have the most trust in hers. I wish we could just get the truth but that’ll probably never happen But yeah Lestat, at least Louis version of Lestat’s, would’ve never let that slide lol. Honestly Gabrielle just gives me the heebie jeebies, idk how to feel abt her. Hopefully we also get to explore why she’s like that and her origins.
Claudia was manipulative but she had every right to be that way. Even when they summoned her ghost, it wasn't about her, it was bout louis and lestat and especially louis's guilt. Her monologue destroyed me and knowing that she doesn't have the reprieve of spending her after life with Madeleine is devastating
Exactly! And when Lestat and Louis came back and were talking abt sum “We need a work on ourselves” that shit pissed me off so much. That’s all you gotta say after destroying Claudia and her life even in death. I’m ngl I’ve always hated Lestat and loved Louis but after this episode I think I hate him more than Lestat. Biggest birds to ever exist. They deserve each other. I hope Madeline spirit is conjured in some way so that she and Claudia can be tg. They deserve to have happiness and be with their person too
No one!! AND I MEAN NO ONE YEARNS LIKE RYU IAN
