You can always drop now if it's not your taste. The author has the tendency to write problematic or in your definition stupid mc/ml in most of her works, the only differences is this one was long enough to have proper character development. If you want green flag or relatable characters right from the beginning this series is not for you.
A lot of readers here have already understood that he has alexithymia, a personality disorder. Or even guessed that his logic is different or hes on the spectrum. It explains his thought process on the situations you have mentioned are not the usual but he has his own logic behind nonetheless.

If u want u can try to read the novel, actually comprehend the characters, and give this a chance. There's a reason why he did that w the child. Grayson isn't some baseless dumbed down kid. The moment he understood his emotions towards dane he literally groveled because he thinks something as deep as love cannot be terrifying like that. This man is one of the best/decent ml's in the verse—this is NOT the worst story in the series. that I can guarantee. someone's worser and brutal than Grayson. and fyi God ain't saving Dane, that man you're siding with fully admitted he raped grayson. if you can't handle something mild like this do NOT read anything from ZIG LOL /nm

i'm also currently reading 'death delayed for a short time because of the will" (explores depression, ptsd, survivor's guilt) if you're into hunterverse (me, not so much, it's only my 2nd hunterverse but so far it's good)

I've put this one away for a while after their flashback but now finishing it in one go I've so many thoughts.
The author def knows how to build a complicated story and layered characters, all characters were pretty likable in their own complicated ways even the antagonists themselves.
however, taking this into consideration it felt so anticlimactic for not a single one to be actually held accountable but worse with every single antagonist being excused and justified that they had a reason for being objectively shitty ppl. chairman is just pitiful like Geon, poor prosecutor was just in love, reider has trauma himself so ofc it's understandable that he made Geom's life a literal misery... etc
makes you think what was even the whole point of Lee's entire revenge plan when barely any one of them got a real punishment??? just to escape his life while -more or less- forgiving them for everything they did?
there's no absolute logic in that. author should've rly learned a thing or two from the pawn's revenge and even Je-oh didn't have as much of a hellish life as Geon.
Also, the sex/rape scenes left a very unstomachable lump in my throat, they were executed too much in fetishy way rather than having anything to do with it being SA. The way every panel was drawn and executed made me so uncomfortable and I don't usually even care after reading over +2k story, alot of which were old yaoi or straight-up pwp.
I wish this story hadn't had a single sex scenes and we just goy Geon's thoughts and agony in words,
