in the end, this manga was about an estranged father and son, them starting to get along and learning they are more alike than meets the eye, with multiple characters joining in on the drama. It was about discovering oneself and making peace with the outcome.
There were the side sex scenes, yeah, but personally, I think the main focus lies in the relationship between Tetsuo and Haruka (centered mostly on Tetsuo), so I wouldn't necessarily call this a yaoi. It seems like the author wanted to convey a different story but remembered at some point it has o be a BL so..this happened to be the result.
Honestly, with it's flaws and inconsistencies, I still kinda like it. Stories like these remind me it's not all about the romance and whatnot but that family is often more important.
also, people, keep in mind this was written in 1997 Σ( ￣□￣||)
I think it was rather progressive for its time, definitely better than most things made in that period...
I really enjoyed reading this, I got this realistic vibe from it, the events and characters are reasonable and relatable. I especially felt for Hisashi, boii, such a hot mess ~ (≧∀≦)

People seem to use the tags just to remember what the manga they read was about because its easy to go "What the hell was that one manga about___" after you haven't read the story in a while. Makes sense. Plus they might be tagging it for the kinkiness factor: The whole "Straight guy becomes gay over the course of the story angst" type of thing.
from what i’ve seen the main criteria people use for choosing their tags are their popularity with that manga, because it’s easier to pick something pre-establishment and not always necessarily logical but somewhat related to the manga than to come up with one on their own. I can relate to that but i must admit it’s often too crazy
People are trash talking Takahiro because of his behavior,but I have to say, he obviously has more serious mental problems, it looks like his life and upbringing was waay f*cked up to begin with. And yet no one notices that?
You're told Jack has dyslexia and aphasia so you pity him, but since nobody put a detailed diagnosis on Takahiro you just throw him under the rug. Is it not obvious by his lifestyle and past experiences that he's not at all okay???

I don´t understand the dislike towards the character(s) and the story.. Of course part of me wished for a happily ever after ending, but this was much more true to life.
And very well done, I just had to read it in one go, kept me on edge.. It is rare..

going through shit or having a mental illness isn’t a ‘get out of jail’ card. takahiro seemingly grew deeply insecure abt penetrative sex as a bottom because he was stuck in his own thought patterns — he found penetrating women to be him ‘using’ them like human flesh lights. because he was quick to push his own ex-partners to the side once the relationship went beyond physicality. he was troubled by finally being the vulnerable one
i don’t think jack ever, whether intentionally or not, made takahiro question his decision to be vulnerable (by putting out/“giving up his ass” as he put it). maybe when he got tired of hiro throwing bones at him? so he went out w that one twink clubbing… hiro slept w his ex — despite the situation-ship between him n jack AND knowing that he was jack’s first everything. jack went to japan for him… he let his pride get in the way of something good

Yeah I actually read the other manga first and even had different tags (also the manga that was on before was a oneshot) so I suddenly saw several chapters and I was so confused and read it again and this is just a different story. I'm curious what the other one is called now though since I tagged "wish there was more"

The drawing style is mediocre but the plot, the wonderful way it's expressed and the attention to details make this manga 10/10 for me. A rare find.

After reading a few of this author's works and noticing a similar pattern of people intimately and sexually getting together for a short while and suddenly separating without a chance to reach a resolution, it takes me to the idea that the author himself must've gone through a similar experience and is thus relieving it through his stories. Being gay irl (in japan) is no rainbow scenery :(
His stories are immensely fucked up, at this point I'd care less about his traumatic past and more about getting a psychiatrist for his future.
