Nope, idk where you are with the reading and I don't remember everything perfect but in the recent ones there really isn't an age gap or it doesn't look that way at least, but for sure at least half of them don't have a big age gap between them like the first ones did

Rereading it, it seems like the rock was being really generous and kind in this specific chapter because it just wanted them to be happy. Hence the pass or fail being that they stay connected as partners OR all memories will be purged. I think the reason Kihoon went straight to that is because they both were in so much pain last time that he didn't think they could handle both remembering what happened in the past and didn't want the same fate. They both regretted knowing each other in their past lives and blamed themselves for how things happened, so it seems like Kihoon just felt like this was the only way they could be happy
