I don't think Maya's character is supposed to be so single faceted as that. I think she's letting anger and jealousy cloud her judgement the way any normal person would. And yeah, it's pretty cliché for the genre, but if a guy had stepped in and done the same thing it wouldn't have made a difference; we'd still hate them.
Yes, you are right, I'm actually hoping the mangaka gives her more depth instead of just keeping her as the annoying female character. :)
Also I know if it had been a guy we will still hate him, but I will have preferred if it had been a guy, because unfortunately most yaoi/shonen-ai mangas use women as the annoying bitches that get between the main characters, I think we don't see enough supporting women in these mangas. :(

Yes that's Norihiko, and in my opinion he's not Ikurou's father, because he seems too young to be his father and if he was, Ikurou's mother wouldn't have been so upset about her and Ikurou living with the mistress son, because she thinks Ikurou is the "real heir".
