My understanding is that 'Hikaru' never required those costs or offerings that were given to it. I think, as other people have said online, that 'Hikaru' works using "Monkey's Paw" rules. It grants wishes, but with ironic and devastating results.
Ex. The real Hikaru wished for Yoshiki to not be alone, so it took over Hikaru's dead body. As opposed to something less horrifying like saving him.
Yaoi has ample of manga with first 5 chapters of them yearning and the last chapter of them having sex. When I look at straight stuff, afaik it's just pure porn or pure fluff. I need somewhere in between: them getting to know each other and them getting it on (〜￣△￣)〜
