Putting manga on 'now reading', and 'already read' notifies you automatically when there is an update.. but sometimes, the update shows up a late in notifications. ╮(￣▽￣)╭
Update notification isn't real time, it notifies only once a day in a certain time. So if you always here, it's high chance for you to see new update before getting notification.
