I think there was a movie like this. The leading lady got diagnosed with cancer or something and had roughly months to live. So she spent every penny she had, maybe took out loans I don't remember and in the end it turned out the machine was malfunctioning. I don't know if it's gonna happen in this but it got me thinking like "if the doctor tells me I only have a year left and I spend all my (nonexistent) fortune to finally live life to the fullest for a bit, I'd better not survive and be left without anything after that time" :D
