Currently it's like at ch 6.1 of novel and at ch 6.2 almost at end mc going to get his heat, and director asked whether mc ever slept with him, at ch 6.3 mc didn't deny it, and director remember his scent, so it kinda soon I guess

i don't think reading kiss me, liar is totally essential to read this, but it does provide some background/context to the characters which always helps (we get brief mentions of chase miller throughout kiss me, liar and we also see more of emma)
Did they forget that they have been married since they were children, I feel like that would clear some things up.
I believe she was the only one who forgot because her memories were erased.
I wonder if the necklaces given to the mages is why their powers have gone away. Now that her necklace was stolen her powers are back.
