the modern slavery of africans has a completely different context. just because they are both historical events regarding slavery doesn't mean they can be applied to the same argument. the trans-atlantic slave trade was based off of deep-rooted systemic racism and a belief of white superiority. white people owned black people. the modern slavery in africa is due to deep corruption in the government and widespread poverty throughout the nation. traffickers, militias, human trafficking cartels own slaves... one is SYSTEMATICALLY racist, the other is due to the political and economic conditions of the nation

While it’s true that every place has practiced slavery before, this particular story is specifically set in the US where natives and black people had so much of their autonomy violated so of course this is absolutely about black history and native history. On Jim Crow, Jim Crow laws were primarily designed to enforce racial segregation and political disenfranchisement of Black Americans. Saying it affected others does not change who was the principal target.

On incarceration, you're not disproving my point. If prison labor is a form of coerced labor, then it applies to prisoners of all races. The argument is that Black Americans have been disproportionately subjected to those systems historically, from convict leasing after emancipation to modern mass incarceration. Saying "other races are in prison too" doesn't address that.

I doubt that most of the other ethnicities who owned slaves had owned them in America. The story sets place in American soil, so the main focus is American slavery, not the slavery of some other country. I get that South Korean Nobi were people who were forced into slavery from 1801-1894 but that's an entirely different subject.
