On Jim Crow, Jim Crow laws were primarily designed to enforce racial segregation and political disenfranchisement of Black Americans. Saying it affected others does not change who was the principal target.
On incarceration, you're not disproving my point. If prison labor is a form of coerced labor, then it applies to prisoners of all races. The argument is that Black Americans have been disproportionately subjected to those systems historically, from convict leasing after emancipation to modern mass incarceration. Saying "other races are in prison too" doesn't address that.

But in that argument the OP listed a lot of historical inaccuracies? And then proceeded to diminish what black people had to go through in order to abolish slavery, and then not to mention, they also still had to face societal racism after and still face it today? Black people have gone through a lot and that comment the ML in the story made seemed like being a slave was something to look forward to. It also looked like the author didn't do enough research to understand the true severity. Their country has experienced racism before so it's offensive to downplay one side of slavery over another. While I myself somewhat mourn what could have been a great and complex story, if you take in the way the author treated a sensitive topic, it seems like they really shouldn't write anything if they aren't prepared thoroughly for it. Let's hope the author either fixes this original story, or makes an entirely new one!
