why did this have to go down the dark romance, taboo route? one of the reasons i enjoyed this bl was bc of yujin's personality, his assertiveness and confidence -- i really despise it when the autonomy of a bottom is taken away by the top and the whole relationship becomes a demeaning power trip, especially when the execution isnt done well (and it really isn't in most bls...)
im fine with consuming media containing dark topics but when it is done lazily and out-of-character like here, it really takes the enjoyment out of the story. it becomes unoriginal, it becomes boring. the author could have done something unique with yujin and aaron's reunion; instead, her lack of creativity and imagination really shows with how the plot has progressed this season.
i also realise i've been slightlyy looking at this story with rose-coloured glasses; to be completely and totally honest i think the sexual attraction between the two leads really carries the plot (or lack thereof). but hey, what can you expect? its a manhwa
idk what you mean when you say it's going the dark route coz it was dark romance since day 1? Aaron was always obsessed with him and Yujin is still the same considering how he's still rage baiting that guy don't see any of them acting OOC here
and when you say she could have done something unique, idk he basically ran away from him and considering how obsessed he is Idt there was anyway this reunion could have been soft or happy, Aaron isn't the type to cry (yet) so we can't expect him grovelling on Yujin's feet either (yet)
what i mean is that it's really stepped into the taboo with the chaining/captivity of yujin, and him getting undressed and hickeyed-up by aaron (basically assaulted, because someone cannot consent while unconscious) while he was sleeping. obsession isnt really a dark romance trope anymore, its been saturated and you see that in most romances now
are you really telling me that aaron being a rapist is in-character for him?
being a rapist isn't a character trait, but one of the few possibilities of a dark themed story I wouldn't call this romance anymore (correcting my comment above) because of what happened in the last chapter but yeah based on the past chapters I already had a bad feeling something like this could happen and it did

apparently youngjo will be making a comeback in s6? im conflicted! on one hand, i've been waiting for their reunion, but on another i get so anguished over his character. i can appreciate his writing, don't get me wrong, and he's written so realistically it honestly works against my better judgement -- he reminds me of many men i know in my life whom i dislike. hard for me to mentally distinguish the two and with how much pain he's caused to garam. it was also a shock to me how many people in this fandom like youngjo -- but it's a pleasant surprise, i'm glad that people don't just resort to hating on him because he played the role of an antagonist
also, am i the only one sad over how compton's arc was resolved? i'm aware he treated his orchestral members horribly and was projecting his unresolved rage on them for years, but he was a mentally tormented man who wanted to find solace in shared trauma and for the professor to run a smear campaign on him and force a hiatus on his conducting is really cruel. idk, compton really grew on me, and this may just be a side effect of reading from garam's perspective for 200 chapters but i can't find it in myself to hate him.
yeess!!! all tje characters are just so beautifully written and so terribly multifaceted-- it's almost impossible to hate on them because theyre just so human.... compton really deserves better ...
He’s not really an antagonist thou. He’s just a troubled kid with a lots of unresolved issues. He did some bad deeds but that’s doesn’t make him a bad person at all. At the end of the day, every body is an angel in their own story. I mean if you look at it from Naeun’s angle, Garam is almost as bad as Heejae. Just because she’s extremely privileged, doesn’t mean Heejae can take away her opportunity like that. That’s the beauty of this story. A lots of imperfect people in searching of their dreamed version of perfection. I love all these men/ women is this story honestly & he has a special place in my heart. That being said, I dare say that among all those men, Youngjo is def an industry plan, BDK’s fav. And why I’m saying that, he is the only men that makes appearance in the official merch along with Heejae ^_^
"antagonist" doesn't mean a character is evil; it just means that they act in opposition to the protagonist. it's about what role a character is serving in the narrative, not necessarily a commentary on their morality. so it's absolutely accurate to say that youngjo served as an antagonist in the first season

Nope. My point stand stills. Like I said, he’s not exactly antagonist. He serves as equal as 1st season with Garam. If anything, he is more deuteragonist. He has hus path BOTH in supporting & cornering Garam in the story line.
what??? he's absolutely not set up as an equal deuteragonist alongside garam. the story is told from garam's perspective, and youngjo's entire arc is about thwarting garam. we just get some scenes from youngjo's POV to explore his perspective and motivation. but all of that perspective and motivation is tied to his purpose of being an obstacle for garam, the protagonist.
