the reveal of myeong-il's complaint letter at the end of chapter 36 lowkey made me tear up. his use of incorrect spelling revealing that he didn't even receive an adequate education + the last line "do what a prison is supposed to do" showing the negligence of correctional systems/prisons, along with the content the letter was about... it really feels like a critique on the criminal justice system. i know the author probably didnt intend to do that and im reading too much into it but i cant help but sympathise with myeong-il and what he represents in reality :((
i made it 20 chapters in looking for bdsm but there was none, can someone recommend something like this but with actual bdsm i want to see a man get absolutely beaten up. preferably one ml, love triangles aren't for me
The bdsm is creeping into this manhwa though maybe you should stick with it.. :D
But some other ones:
- Jiwoo's master (bdsm, pegging, i love them sm)
- Kill me dead (not bdsm but still VERY malesub, SOME play, the ml is absolutely adorable)
- All about dominative and exclusive destruction (art is trash in the most recent chapters though, but boy the male lead does NOT get a break the poor guy, very non-consensual)
- In the doghouse (my all time fave manhwa EVER, both the ml and fl are amazing)
- Make him cry (non-consensual bdsm and very religiously disrespectful, pegging)
- Play Karma (there are multiple MLs but not a love triangle, theyre just all subs lmao, pegging, lots of bdsm but some of it is non-consensual)
There is gay s*x in this one, not too much.
- A changed man (i dont love the plot its kinda pseudo-incest, but lots of bdsm and there is kindaaa a love traingle though, pegging)
There's gay s*x in this one, but for like two chapters.
- Sadistic beauty (i hate this one with a passion but there's lots of bdsm, non-consensual though, pegging)
There's also gay s*x in this one.
- Confidentiality (aka "your secret keeper", some pegging, bdsm)
- S flower (bdsm, i dont like the fl of this one, pegging, multiple male characters though, all subs)
- Welcome to club oasis (absolutely no plot LMAO, but it has everything under the sun in this one)
Lowkey dont remember anything about this and it sucked BUT there was LOTS of bdsm, practically every single chapter.
- killer beat (not really bdsm but still VERY malesubby and the art is peak, play)
- man slave (not necessarily bdsm, some play, but mainly plot tbh, and some SA but also towards the female characters)
- doggey lovey (bdsm, pegging, not really much drama though and its quite short.)
Hope something in this list appeals to you!! (These are all manhwas, i have a fewww mangas if you want.)
Hi, sorry, that is unfortunately not within my tastes so I dont know any , the only one that comes to mind is "boo-tiful nightmare".
They are an extremely freaky couple, and try some bdsm in some later chapters where the girl gets dominated. (There is a little bit of female dominant in it but she kinda fails at that LMAO). Besides that, it is VERY male dominant.
im not really surprised that tj is endgame but i do find it truly devastating when you can tell where the author's heart lies. its clear that jo was never even considered an option, but just a plot device to progress ian and tj's relationship.
there is a lot more depth, history, shared trauma, and codependence between the latter two which makes it much harder for both partners to move on from such a strong relationship. i will say this is realistic - toxic relationships are the hardest to leave from and overcome. but jo was meant to represent progress and healing, and ian running back to tj just kind of feels like there was no point to jo's character in the plot at all.
jo, you are an angel in this absolute mess of a story. you deserve better than a man who refuses to show any character development
s1 was really good, but then it started going downhill when she explored the past of ian and tj while discarded jo most of the time. then s3 started and the scenes between ian and tj was just purely sex in the bathroom, the confession on the road, and then suddenly showing them kissing on the house ian built. how can you tell that is a good writing?
this story is not a romance. the rape scene was not written in a way that was supposed to be romanticised, glorified, or anything of the sort. reading it made me sick when incheol puked and passed out. and that was the author's intention.
this story is meant to be heavily plot-driven with subtextual sociopolitical themes. therefore, this isn't like your typical bl. i'm not expecting any forgiveness or romance from the main characters, and i really don't think the author intends to write a story like that either.
this manwha is acclaimed due to its storytelling. the world building is absolutely wonderful. the two main characters are written very well and through all of this their (unhealthy) dynamic absorbs you into the storyline. even the panel placing is meticulous and intentional.
i believe some readers went into this story expecting an average bl webtoon, probably thinking the rape scene was meant as a plot device to create romance between the two mcs (like what happens with so many stories out there). this is not the case.
some people need to use their critical thinking skills. the author would be disappointed that their story is getting viewed as a rape-to-romance bl like jinx.
i agree. tbh while reading this, ive never even subconsciously classified this as a BL simply bc i couldnt convince myself that incheol was not the straightest dude ive ever seen. i think if anything, ive always felt as if the author wanted to use incheol’s sexuality (and if im correct, his straightness) to further thematic messages or character analyses through him.
Did you read the author’s note yet? The author said that this story is meant to be a “hardcore noir genre bl story.” The theme was meant to be dark and violent with the characters. They did not want to write the characters as lovey dovey, who had to say “I love you” constantly and always making out. So it has romance but not a fluffy, sweet kind that makes you feel warm inside. It’s going to be a bumpy ride with them because of the inclinations to rougher things, manipulation, and politics. Also, the obvious guilt the ml feels for pyeonghwa.
I haven't yet (only read up to chapter 22), but I believe you. The author intends to make it a romance eventually. Got it
Up until chapter 22, though, a seemingly heterosexual man is being raped by another man and being so disgusted by it that he throws up and even passes out. I personally don't think that is romance. I guess I'll see how the story progresses. I don't think my opinion, a complete stranger's, should upset you this much. Please feel free to ignore me.
No, your opinion didn’t upset me. I just wanted to let you know what the author had intended for this story. The first season will be more about introducing the characters so that’s why you don’t feel the romance element. But then again with this being a dark theme romance, it may still be far from what is a typical romance story.

i'm sick to my stomach at how people are attempting to justify a relationship between a native american man calling himself a slave with a white man being his master. for the author to specifically set her story in the historical context of the american civil war and then pay no respect to the brutal oppression and mistreatment of slaves is so disrespectful and offensive. this is a textbook 'white saviour' trope that will romanticise the historical abuse that slaves suffered and it shows she truly does not care about any other minority but her own
