It seems to me more like he's been told he's useless and stupid, with everyone constantly pushing that stereotype onto him, and with his trauma intensifying things, he ends up forgetful. But we can see he's not truly like that - he remembers facts about all the plants, clearly has repressed memories of his childhood, etc.

if you compare the previous chapter to this chapter, you can see his hair is super overgrown meaning its been atleast a couple weeks so in that time (no matter how slow facial hair growth(which isnt that slow)) ATLEAST a stubble has to be seen. and i think the muscles is odd but maybe its just brcause he is super skinny now and its just his bones and whatever organs showing(??)

I would really recommend this its a really good read and as for warning there is rape at the beginning and I'm not justifying ml actions but he does become better and really loves the mc although the last season left us on a cliffhanger I would really recommend. I might reread(≧∀≦)
