I admit, I'm not too far into the story as I decided to drop it quite soon after the ML showed up so I may be missing important context. My impression of him is that he immediately threaten to kill a man for petty crime, or something similar to that. Whatever that person did, it certainly didn't warrant a death threat. It really made me dislike him.
oh you’re on that scene, well in my mind the fl and ml are similar in that sense cause the only reason she stopped him from killing the guy was because she didn’t want a death in her cafe.. Insinuating that if it were in any other place she would’ve been fine with it.. Honestly he’s actually a green flag, he’s been waiting on her for nine years without being overly pushy with his feeling for her knowing she doesn’t want to go back to the place that made her feel miserable for those nine years. But I know everyone can form their own opinions on the same story so I see where you are coming from!! (￣∇￣")

I'm not gonna say I hate the mother cause Claude is WAY WORSE, but man I do wish she did get some consequences sometimes. Everyone keeps shushing the shoeshiner and I feel like they should actually listen to him. He's an information broker, stop ignoring him for god's sake, he's the guy that gets you the most power!
the shoeshiner existing IS a consequence. it’s a comforting direction to the story because now we have another character who knows of ludia’s past outside of lyrica, and will not forgive her easily.
the family members are already aware of ludia’s past to an extent, and ludia herself is open about her having been a terrible mother to lyrica. but considering the fact that they’re seeing her improved state, i think it’s reasonable for them be protective and defensive on her behalf. the past cannot be undone, what matters is what she’s doing now to change it. but now no matter what she does, there will be consequences now (like the shoeshiner and him not liking her).

if i’m remembering, on screen she’s mentioned to her husband about her alcoholic past, and i’m like 70% sure she’s mentioned on screen to him that she used to be a terrible mother while crying. (since they’ve covered a lot of bases before getting married, i’m assuming that she discussed her past behavior, as well as her alcoholism beforehand, bc on screen she’s gives the vibe of ‘as you know, this was my past’ when bringing it up. though tbh it’s reasonable to assume that she kept that details vague, which is why i said he knows it to an extent.) as for atil, he likely picked things up himself from researching her past (and finding her father as a result), as well as lyrica venting to him and saying ‘mother only keeps me around because i’m useful’ to him.
