The reaction of the Akira when Chihiro confessed him is realistic. Imagine you are a straight man and must lived with a guy that loves you. So understandably he chose to leave. And I imagining what Chihiro feels right after he found out his loved guy is leave because his confession. This is dilema of a gay man also in the real world. You better keep your feeling for yourself or geting someone you love left you. Akira himself told his blonde bodyguard comrade that they are both guys is not a little problem, so in this time Akira still thinking traditionaly like many straight guy in Asia does.
But in this manga the straigh boy Akira come back to Chihiro. That means he actually can love boy too after some event occours that make he can think more openly. In fact all or mostly people are bisexual biologicaly, but the society made you choose only opposite gender. But in the first time Akira who still thinks traditionaly is confussed the real desire of his heart. He shocked when his friend confessed then leave. But when circumated happened he can find what the truth of love is. It's not about gender.
