At that time he didn't have a queen but all the nobles wanted him to take one, He didn't want to, he asked her lover if she was ok with that and she said yes so he married another woman. Lucio's mother couldn't became a queen bc she wasn't a noble, she could only be a concubine. The queen and she didn't have a bad relationship. However, the concubine noticed that she was pregnant, she was shocked and happy bc she was going to have a baby of the man she loves. The queen hated that fact bc the emperor didn't love her and she.. was infertil. When Lucio was born, he only lived with her mother for a month bc the queen took him away and didn't allow the concubine to meet him.
