Are there any policies about posting your own translation of a comic if there is already someone uploading their own translation? Specifically if it’s a translator doesn’t speak or knows very little of the language and is clearly using google translate or similar. If there if a lot of mistranslations and the plot stops making sense, is it ok to post your own version? Happy for any feedback!
Yes please don't. Contact them directly and ask them to take down if the translation is really bad and you're knowledgeable on that language or they're unable to update for a long time. If you can't reach them it's fine.

really? I haven’t seen any of that. most stories on here have like three different translations on them. like I said it’s first come first serve so most ppl don’t wanna stop translating and give it to another person if they already started, so the second option would just be both ppl!

Yeah. I have seen many mangas. They curse both of them out. Saying stop the translation flow. Cause ofcourse two people will have two different ways to translate. Only rare case they upload both versions or one of them just picks up another project.

I’ve seen lots of stories have different translations I still think both ppl uploading is the most civil solution if the og translator doesn’t wanna stop, they separate in the overview of the chapter list anyways

I have rarely seen comforting words with that situation. Ofcourse it's civil but I wonder if comparison and demotivation will happen if people keep preferring one translation over the other
The polite thing to do would be to contact the current translator and ask to collaborate or something. Maybe they can do the cleaning and you can do the actual translation. They probably wouldn't mind better translation themselves. If the chapters are being uploaded by a bot from somewhere else though, I think you can go directly to uploading your own here. Just be careful how you upload in the order so it's not inconvenient for readers. You can also post the question directly in the comments of the work you want to translate, see what the actual readers think

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ve been searching for their contact info because they do write their name on the first page of every chapter, but there’s no email/sns/discord info anywhere… I really don’t want to be rude to them, but I asked in the comments now so hopefully I can get some feedback there as well! I did see several comments complaining already so I guess I’m not the only one who noticed (*´-`*)

If there's no username next to the chapter in the chapter list on the work homepage that means it's uploaded by an mgg bot

Yes if you believe your translation is better than do so

usually it’s kinda a first come first serve to translating, but you can double upload where you guys are both uploading your own translations
