I like how the storyline (up to ch. 25) is keeping things interesting with the progression. That not only is she finding her dad but how these mana stones are also progressing in the story

From what i remember in the novel. He was not "directly" in touch or working with the 2nd prince, tho he has a strong loyalty to the brown family.

Hmm yeah. But more like he'll do anything to protect his people (including the brown). He dont look like it but he does really care for his people. It doesnt matter who he transact with as long as he and his people benefits. It just, coincidentally, tia and perez are helping the brown family who he respect so much that their goals aligned on that specific arc.
Not to mention, perez will never like sershou he almost killed tia. Perez will never forgive anyone who hurts tia

Nope. He was able to choose the law because he is sly and was WHOLEHEARTEDLY willing to give up the throne and give back to Astana or some other distant cousins. He didn't know that tia was pregnant, heck tia didn't even know. As they were preparing for the wedding, tia found out and was avoiding in telling Perez and that's why Perez thought tia was having second doubts and he was so sad and vowed to kill the man who might've seduced tia. So tia just told him that she was pregnant.
Back to the wedding thing. As Perez was threatening the old emperor, because there's this rule in lambrew empire that a dying emperor's wish cannot be broken (an imperial edict. Only once can an emperor use this. And that's only while he's on his deathbed) so Perez wanted to use that because if he was the one to give the order (as an emperor) that an empress shall retain her familial lands and rights, then it will be effective to the next reign (not his reign. We all know that he can still make it so that it would be in his reign, like killing and threatening the noble houses, but he knows that tia won't be happy with that.) So he needed emperor Jovaness to issue the edict himself about tia and mind you. Perez was absolutely percent fine with being a house husband. He doesn't care. He just wants to be eith tia, but tia wants Perez to become emperor because she knows it's his destiny, so Perez needs to fix this and make it all legal. Thus the emperor chaned his origina edict, signed the edict that Perez pre made and then Perez killed him.
