There seems to be some metaplot curse that no FL in these kinds of stories can ever take direct action against her opponent. And in general, tactical violence is always a no go. Violence is only ever used because someone lost their temper and was lashing out (ML included).
There are countless situations in this subgenre if the MCs would just cut the damn gordion knot.

It's not a misogyny problem because MLs are under the same curse most of the time. Not as strongly, but most of the time when we see an ML being violent it's because he lost his temper, probably over the MC, rather than a calculated effort to make life better for either of them. Even when it is calculated, it's still steeped in a temper tantrum.
