The art is beautiful but this adaptation feels like just a summary of the novel plot. So much of the story has been cut out, and imo it's to the detriment of the mc and the reader experience. The emotional highs and lows don't hit as hard if all of the reasons for them are cut out. Part of what makes this story so enjoyable for me is that the mc is part of the weakest species, and yet his emotional and tactical intelligence make him a force to be reckoned with. All of the moments demonstrating the mc's strengths, and even the great banter and dynamics he has with his people, have all been removed. It feels rushed and scenes that have huge emotional impact in the story feel like they don't matter at all. If this story interests you at all, I'd say read this in addition to the novel.

One of my favorite novels, so excited it's getting an adaptation! It is peak BL - full of the great plot, humor, and heartbreak that I love from samK (same author of Payback, December, Regas and Half of Me). MC is OP and so is the ML. No insta love here, it's a satisfying and more realistic slow burn. Read it, it's a really good one.
