has anyone read the novel? im wondering if there are any monologues before or during the kiss scene that were lost in adaptation

    skye_faye May 26, 2026 9:24 am

I don't remember... But I can tell that this adaptation is actually quite good and faithful to the novel (seeing that many other novel-to-manhwa adaptation miss hella lot of staff just to cut corners)

yes I’ve read most of it a while ago, but I don’t remember all the specific details. but the on thing I do remember is the mc using the word sodomy and sodimite, so I’m not sure if they are adding that but there’s a conversation with the ml that has not been adapted (yet?)

There is a very good line spoken by Taehee that didn't mention in novel. In chapter 55, when Taehee used those harsh words to break his balance between him and Jaegyeom, the novel has a line "I wanted to shake you, but in the end the one had being shaken was myself". Rough translation so excuse me here ( ̄へ ̄)
The manhwa adaptation is quite faithful to the novel imo. There are several scenes that showing their deal balance. They chat and joke around but there is an exist silence that reminds them "this is just our deal. No matter what will happen, after 2 months we'll get what we want and never see each other again" "your lost is my win" "your death will bring my victory" etc. Chapter 47 illustrates quite well but not enough. In manhwa, they don't joke around enough and Taehee is more obsessive in the novel.
However, kiss scenes in manhwa are drawn very good and passionate. Taehee's expression is being drawn so beautiful and desperate. And their small gestures during kiss scenes, OMG (≧∀≦)

toldju the novel author said it was her favorite line so I was surprised that it didn't make it in the manhwa. On ridibooks, some readers also upset that the line didn't get adapted.
Another line that impressed me was in chapter 18, when Jaegyeom found out Taehee is an exorcist, he threatened to break Taehee wrist if he not let go, Taehee's inner thought was "if I am able to keep you here, a broken wrist is nothing". Taehee's obsession in the manhwa is more intense.
Or when Taehee ordered Saero to read Jaegyeom's past, Saero intended to get more blood by any means. Taehee rejected and said "but I don't want him to get hurt".
I recommend to read the novel. It's quite long but it worths it!!

so far ive read until 24.5

wow im conflicted about this manga… from the story to the comments i feel that majority of the readers and the author themselves dont even know what theyre trying to understand. I dont mind people villainizing the girl since the author illustrated her that way because if you think about it, shirotani is a unreliable narrator. hes going to have biases regarding his backstory and its the author’s own decision to make it in his pov (i dont think it was illustrated or written intentionally apart from showing shriotani’s backstory tbh) HOWEVER once you step away from first to second person, youll see that the girl was also a victim herself since she didnt have a parental figure. thus she relied on shirotani’s father because hes the one that allowed her to be with him. on that note, the readers should hold shirotani’s father more accountable than the author themselves because its a valid critique and the author is not gonna address ANYTHING.

i do like the premise but its getting so hard to defend the characters so atp ima accept them, esp shirotani because YES you ARE disgusting for wanting a romantic relationship with your father. i cant tell if shirotani actually knows the difference between parental and actual love but hopefully the author puts he will learn the difference and if the author will address it? (bruhs having high hopes on a 2013 manga POINT AND LAUGH)(yea the authors not doing that LMAOO)(the comments dont look too good ) and then kurose… well hes a freak. not too happy abt the sexual scenes but whatever its yaoi

The entire premise of this manga underlies the fact that Shirotani was a TRAUMATIZED CHILD. the author literally highlights that he and the teen girl were in a similar position, lacking an important parental figure and as a consequence influencing their perception of love, sexuality, and who they can turn to. While she found sexual solace in his father, shirotani isolated himself and demonized his sexuality because he, as a child, had no one to teach him the rights and wrongs of how to express himself. Literally all he had in life was his father, who else was he to base his concept of love on? To just look at these circumstances of risk, the cycles in which the hurt unknowingly hurt others, and only come to the conclusion that Shirotani is disgusting and the author doesn’t know what they are talking about just goes to show that YOU are the one who lacks comprehension and empathy when analyzing the ways in which trauma manifests into faulty thinking and behaviors.

Reminds me of Isekai Shikkaku. MC got isekaid to become a hero, refuses his call, stays suicidal, has the lowest stats ever in the new world, but is the most powerful being. XD

i really like this read but i wished the author was a bit more mature when approaching the issue with the tutor and akira… they definitely painted it as an “whatever” event and i didnt like that. same with the bully, akira had all right to be more mad. overall 4/5
