I'll keep reading this, but I can't say that I like it at the moment.
I really think ML needs a chasing arc, and I know it might happen when MC learns that he paid off the light he broke. That technically counts as "giving money", since he settled his debt without asking, and I'm sure that will make him furious... He may have feelings, but he did set a boundary
