I'm tired of how in 99.9999999% of shoujo mangas the female protagonists have huge "moe" eyes (this one gets tiring and annoying as hell after awhile,id really love to see a shoujo manga where she actually has normal ish sized eyes ) and are mostly short in stature and are all innocent and cute like and somehow they are either 'nerds' or 'outcasts' like what the fuck?they all seem so bland and the same to me and even in the shoujo mantas where they are seemingly 'strong' its just plain unrealistic (in that they have unusual physical capabilities) and they still inevitably get saved by the guy.Heck,i myself am tired of how most boys in shoujos are presented as always being cool and good looking bad asses that don't seem to have any emotional insecurities and always and up saving the shy, meek and emotionally weak mc that can't do shit for herself.Mostly all shoujo mangas have the same boring, bland, tasteless plots, character designs and a gary stu that can do anything. One of the many reasons why I enjoy yaoi manga more, heck even some yaoi mangas are just like your typical shitty shoujo mangas.(sorry for being a salty bitch just really annoyed by how literally every shoujo manga is the same imo)

omg yeah thats probably the only shoujo anime i love with all my heart but the manga is frustratingly long and a lot of people say that it has been dragging on and that kyoko and Ren are just going in circles with their relationship (/TДT)/ and I'm really worried that kyoko might end up with sho (I'm pretty sure that reading the manga will give me a lot of heart pain ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ ) so ill probably only read it once its completed ヾ(☆▽☆) thanks for the suggestion tho

Yeah, that the japanese for you. The 99.999% of woman roles in mangas are like this because they have a extreme sexist society, rigid too that constrain women to behave as submissive and kind of childlike. Geishas are the example, they come from that.

    Pri October 12, 2017 2:33 pm

I agree. Please tell me the names of those 0.0000001%But yaoi have it's negative point too. I hate how most of the yaoi have romantic development through sexual harassment or by assaulting. This kind of development is unthinkable in a shoujo you know. So the authers have to make the stories like being protected by the male lead or something. And only shoujo have these kind of female lead. Other genres are okey.
And try reading Seiishun otome no banchou. Female lead protects male lead here.

yeah thats true, many yaoi also lead many young obsessed fangirls in having misconceptions to how lgbtq relationships are in real life, which can be very detrimental to themselves and others.i agree with what you say about shoujo manga as well.thanks for the shoujo manga recommendation ill definitely check it out (๑•ㅂ•)و✧

Shoujo is often targeted towards very young girls and the intent is to allow them to insert themselves into the story. The logic is that if she's too strong or has a distinct personality young girls will be turned off or intimidated.

Strangely enough, boys are not seen as having this problem relating to characters who can destroy the world with their little finger. That's sexism for you.

You're just growing old, my friend. I remember when I was younger when I didn't mind all those shoujo tropes. It's understandable. Shoujo is made and marketed for younger girls, anyway. Time for you to ascend to the wonderful world of Josei and Seinen mangas....

Definetly I can't relate to a dull girl, boring and depentdable with no personality whose only remark is her devoting to the male character. Women are dispicted as one dimensional, it's not showed all their sides included his sexuality and this has diverted towards yaoi as a form of woman to give way all this things (in a twisted way uke become the girl in shojo doing things that a woman "shouldnt do") because is taboo in Japan that a woman can express her desire as something nature. There are exceptions of course, Yamashita Tomoko has write some one shots very interesting that are out of the norm.

yeah i know but its doing more harm then good tbh..it gives girls wrong and often too romanticised perceptions on how relationships work.i also absolutely despise how guys in shoujo manga are also depicted as bland cool and quiet bishies that seem to have no flaws or insecurities at all(basically a gary stu) and what anon applied is right too,i certainly wouldn't relate to a bland and tasteless girl lacking any personality

lol yeah,i just hate how they all are the same..as i said before they are more harmful then good because it gives girls wrong perceptions on romance and how a guy (assuming your straight) should be perfect and handsome and have no insecurities whatsoever.im okay with seinen but to me josei is too uncommon in mangas ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

I've recently been hearing that sakutranslation gives poor translations to mantas such as ten count and sekaiichi hatsukoi. The translated versions do seem poor and strange ┗( T﹏T )┛.Does anyone have anything to say about it?
