TO EVERYONE ANGRY AT THE MOTHER: I am someone whose mother abandoned her. Although I was around her on a semi-friendly basis after I turned 25, the relationship remained there. I was filled with resentment and limited my interactions with her as much as I could. Once I had my son, I tried to give him the opportunity to have a relationship with her and in that sense I made the right decision because she was a loving grandmother to him. She suddenly died when I was 39. I never got a single I love you, I am proud of you or I am sorry.

Next year it’ll be 20 years since she died. What I have learned from my experience, is that our parents are people just like we are. Just because they give us life, doesn’t mean they are cut out to be parents, or that they even have parental love for us. I think that people who have loving and supportive parents are fortunate, but I believe that the majority just deal with the responsibility because they must.

I truly believe that both my parents especially my mother were not cut out to be parents, they were just thrown into the situation. I believe that my mother did the best she could with the situation she was in. Because I also believe that we always make the right choice, even if the outcome is bad. If we have to pick one out of two bad things, we will always choose the least painful one.

I hope that in another reality, there is another version of me who is living a happy life filled with the love and support from my mother.
