I think the ratings are so low cause it’s not what you’d expect from a josei. Pretty shoujo-esque, much more young adult than straight up adult. I think having both tags would be more accurate. Unless they’re about to fuck in the next 5 chapters then I apologize mb
Josei is 18+ and the counterpart to seinen, shoujo fits the umbrella of adult and young adult. Never said that no smut means for kids, this is just stuff you’d see on daytime television. 14+. Either way I suggested both tags because I’ve read similar stuff with both tags, and that’s a more accurate description.
...young adult is 18+ it's called adult in the name????
Also, you did imply it by suggesting the fact that this including allusions to sex, rape, marital abuse, medical abuse, etc were all normal and regular 14+ (shoujo) content, when usually the farthest that goes is attempted assault, i.e. kissing and some touching, they definitely very rarely get into any marital relationships, especially those involving abuse outside of it being from more of a child's perspective (and like in flashbacks, bare minimum necessary to give sad backstory, they do not linger in it and escape quickly), so Im not sure what you mean is all. Like teens media will usually deal with some of this, but in a way where it is softened or not directly impacting the main character.
YA (literature) is different from Young Adult in any other context......... idk why books stupid but you said young adult in the original ccomment so if you meant Teen Lit and not young adult the real actual age group, it was not clear because you didnt go "YA" or "Teen Lit" I've never heard any one call it by its government name in casual context lmao

my blood pressure rises every time I read this book. hits like a pre workout.
