The recent chapter made me remember why i like this manhwa. I like that the conflict between two of them is realistic because of their polar opposite their personalities and how they express themselves. I know someone like the introvert guy who doesn't express themselves which can be hard to understand sometimes. And personally I'm not affectionate so I can see how that might affects the other person. Also stubbornness is real. After learning a bit more context, I enjoy these side stories.
I have no problem with bl pair up, but it made no sense that they ended up together tbh. It was a one-sided crush with no romantic buildup between the two of them. I feel like the author forced them together as a plot twist. And what's even more frustrating is the author didn't even draw them being together at the end. Only MC was shown. Why didn't the author fully commit to their relationship?
This manga is highly rated but I find so many problems with it.
hi... i have an opinion id like to share.
i feel like, the problem being that for the ending was something intended by the author. the fact that the author did not specify what happened between the timeskip and we get to the revelation that we were looking at what happened after all those years through Touma's pov— i cant put it into words but its the same as when Touma wasnt able to tell his brother about whats rlly going on and he just cried. it means for the end, he didnt want to explain it (to us readers) because thats how he truly is when it comes to his feelings. from the start, he wasnt the type to show whats going on, its part of him being him because for him, he cant be that person— its ichinose! its been showed many times that hes been admiring this side of ichinose despite the man himself denying that part of him.
the fact that they got together in the end isnt much of a problem. life goes in all directions and thats kind of the theme of the story so far. ive always thought ichinose and futaba's relationship at the end by the beach was getting to the point where theyre more open that its become fragile. their relationship is something that both built through overcoming challenges but it wasnt truly because of romantic love, but more of companionship/platonic love. they were young and had many things to realize and lots of years to understand about each other and in themselves. and thus resulted in them not working out. thats the 'leave it to interpretation.'
and i think thats what makes the problem u mentioned really awesome.
now is it a 'good' ending? yes.
was it a proper execution? to many, not much.
I kinda get the author's intention but as you said at the end, it was a poor execution. And before MC confronted the guy, there was a whole exposition dump with his friends. That's very contradicting to you saying the author doesn't want him to explain his feelings. And I know the author's note said the story intended to portray a conflict resolved through communication/ debate. Idk but it felt like MC wanted to fall in love to keep their friendship instead of romantically falling for him. That's my issue. And romance is a big part of this manga. I want a gradual development for his romantic endeavors too, not just life stuff.
Nevertheless, I like having discussion, so i appreciate your comment!
MC makes no sense but I'll keep reading
you did, he probably has really strong sense of righteousness and coupled with the recent chapters of him getting asked for help + knowing that the guy offed himself (implied on the conversation) he also probably has a lot of survivor guilt which irrationally is making him have to take the bullet as much as he can now.
I'm confused about how it went from a big fight to... bed? Anyway, I feel like it's messed up to trigger Skylar's PTSD when Cirrus already had a hunch about what happened. He finally listened at least. But someone found out and it's only a matter of time now. And don't get me wrong, I don't think Skylar is innocent in any way. But he got too much crap from the community while excusing Cirrus behavior. I understand Cirrus is insecured and has his own trauma, but that is no reason to compromise his lover's mental health.
Thank you for the update!!
