I realized that Hirano might be ace. It never occurred to me all this time reading it, until today. Which is funny because I'm ace. But when I read romance I don't expect an MC to be ace because that's usually counter to what you're looking for in a romance.
But if that ends up being the case, this story is a nice way to present it. You can feel both the big differences and the sameness in their feelings about each other.
I've loved this for years and won't stop. So glad it's back.
I feel like everyone who's mad about Tommy's choices is looking for a cut and dry 3 act romance without complications or messy realistic characters. There's plenty of that to be found to read elsewhere.
The type of story this actually is, is rare.
I only ship Tommy with a guy she likes, so if she stops liking a guy then I'm done shipping it. If she likes more than one guy at the same time, I'm shipping it.
None of the characterizations feel forced or out of nowhere. It's natural progression with a lot of buildup. I hated Linus when she hated Linus but he's redeemed himself to Tommy and she's liking him again so now i like him too.
She still likes Howe and so do I.
