It was your wife's best friend based ona wife's request, kinda aquientence not random lady with the need of status or money. She was never interested, and his attempts to get to know her is so subpar cause it was a 7 year contract. Also why did no one have the dying mom explain the marriage situation, they talk about the reasons why at her grave?

It keeps mentioning how oh 7 years ago he left, but is he in the kids 18-20 range or the parents range of probably 36-40(assuming an age of a love marriage being 18). It would make sense that a 20 year old can run away even if he has magic rather than a 14 year old. Brother also just finally broke into the friend zone before leaving.

A sister he mentions how he loves, but is shown to say "She's dead" as a justification to ERASE HER from her best friend's memories. For love that blossomed cause his sister made a good friend, and he in those 7 years doesn't seem to put an effort to know his nephews after the contract marriage (he knows is a contract). In his magic abilities so far he mentions how he doesn't use it, but for erasing memories he's up for it. How about your sister who's murdered?? Brother as a count is lower standing to go against the duke, however to not even show his face in the entire surveillance. Brother was set up to be a pining first love, with highest success rate of love. Fumble galore so far, and seems to be goddamm hypocritical about efforts to love(romantic or familial).
i think the issue this manhwa struggles with is the “no woman is more important than the mc” cliche where the mc always HAS to be the center of attention. this is not me hating on the mc but more so with the author’s choices. wdym diana had a loving husband and a brother but just because she’s dead now, all the attention is directed to the mc? so now the loving husband is fixated on his wife’s best friend? and the brother cares more about the mc than his dead sister who was most likely murdered? why can’t authors ever understand that having another female character does not mean the main female lead is less desirable? if they wanted to give the mc a variety of love interests, they could’ve made other characters but they deliberately chose the two men who were the closest to diana. like why does the mc care more about diana than diana’s own HUSBAND and BROTHER ?
YES, the set up is all about revolving around the murder investigation of her best friend. It's been 7 years yet there's no new information about it, ands it's not like there's huge childcare as one ran away and one doesn't interact. She is shown to be in isolation and running the house, and there were late night meeting to review documents. However nothing about murder other than the phrase they haven't found the culprit as she left the duke house.
