Here's the thing about incest: The visceral reaction to it is wholly a biological trigger rather than a moral one, despite the fact that virtually everyone conflates the two.

Incestuous abuse and molestation are not meaningfully worse than regular abuse and molestation. If it's mutual, consensual, equal, and responsible, incest can be just as healthy as any other relationship.

The need to be and meaning of 'responsible' is of course stronger here, as unwanted pregnancies are one thing in other relationships, but incestuous relationships must be incredibly vigilant about birth control for obvious reasons. However, this obligation to not have children is not very different from people with serious congenital disorders they are likely to pass on.

In the case of this series, the 'equal' criteria is dubious due to the dependent relationship of a parent and child (as opposed to siblings), but it is actually incredibly well written in that regard. And of course, both parties being female means that a huge landmine is completely and easily avoided.

Also, IT'S FICTIONAL. It's not hurting you or anyone else, so let people read what they want to read without insulting them you ass.

Liking incest in a fictional story doesn't make you a family "lover" Plus tell me, why do you think it's okay to tell someone else they need to "seek help" only because you can't agree for what they enjoy? Grow up hun, accept others and maybe you'll live happier.

It’s because cuteness is justice. Also it’s between girls, and the reason why most people hate incest cause of the genetic mutation. But like there is no chance of it’s happening.

liking manga/anime can be considered weird as hell too. lots of things are weird as hell. all that means is that those things dont occupy the dominant culture. incest wasnt weird when the royals were using it to justify rule. they even had kids result. its fine if its not your cup of tea and you dont read it. but dont hate on those who enjoy the story. esp since you arent reading it. esp when what drew you to the story, the yuri, is also taboo in many parts of the world based on the same misguided morals your spreading

Comparing same sex relationships (in this case Yuri) to fucking incest is just straight up wrong. Like???????? Yeah it’s “taboo” in some parts of the world but there’s nothing inherently wrong about same sex relationships. It’s “taboo” but it’s not wrong. What’s wrong is incest. What’s wrong is pedophilia. In this case both cause it’s a mother daughter relationship. And incest was still wrong when royals were doing it like ???? Cmon now :/

In a vast majority of real-life cases, absolutely, yes. In this story, however, the daughter is unquestionably the initiator. The mother, while raising her daughter, had absolutely no conscious or unconscious intentions of romantic or sexual advances on her daughter at any point in her life. So you have a strong point, it just doesn't apply here.

But incest isn't inherently wrong. In the overwhelming majority of cases, yes, it is, but only due to circumstances or context. Just 'incest', with no further details, cannot offhandedly be declared wrong.

As for pedophilia, you're using that word wrong and if you didn't realize that, you should have. Or maybe you're using it for shock value. Pedophilia (which is not in itself a crime) and child molestation (which is a crime) only apply when pre-pubescents are involved. The story makes it pretty clear that the mother never thought of her daughter in any such way before she confessed at 16. At that point the only applicable crime is statutory rape, which would require sex, which is frankly never going to happen in a story this pure.

Ah that's true, I was more replying to the topic of incest in general. Although I'm sure the volume of such cases of it being an equal relationship without any dubious consent would be unquestionably small and honestly I don't think there can really exist an equal partnership within the realms of incest, it's just too complex. That being said the knee-jerk reactions in contrast to the comments of the people just here for the yuri are hilarious.

I would compare incest to any type of taboo relationship bc that's all those things are. taboos. its is taboo to have a 3-some, taboo to have more than one wife, taboo to have a large age gap even between consenting adults. we perceive wrongness in all those situations bc they are outside the norm. the standard. in the US, it was extremely taboo to be same sex loving before the lgbt movement fought and won many rights. it is still hard but now it is perceived as more common. hence less taboo. we've seen similar turn around for age gap relationships. similar turn around in talking about women's sexual assault (which was and is still super taboo). pedophilia is wrong bc we believe children unable to consent without full understanding and at such young ages full understanding is hard and/or impossible. we do have to remember that throughout much of history, pedophilia was condoned. incest too was condoned. we perceive it now as bad bc we know what it does to the genetics of offspring and have a long history now of rejecting such relations. the real truth is that what we define as "wrong" has more to do with culture and what's commonly accepted not the inherent morality of what's in question. PS this story is extremely lighthearted and definitely not pedo, probably wont incest
