Chapter 32 was my last straw, like wow. I don't really mind reading bl with red flag characters as long as it makes the story interesting, but the ml in this story is just being an asshole for the sake of it. At least in other stories, red flag MLs has reason/s no matter how shitty it is. It's not like that at all in this story. I just don't understand why the ML has to make the uke feel miserable every single time they interact. It's as if he has a really nasty grudge to him. It's like the author is forcing the ML to be put in a category of "Red Flag"
It just feel so forced. Anyways maybe it's just me? idk. Also, this dynamic of red flag, asshole ML and naive uke doesn't really go well together, at the very least based in my preference.
This is just MY review. If you think the story is good, then good for you. Keep reading the story. If you're planning to read this, other than the usual "RED FLAG" ML in every yaoi, expect a REALLY REALLY asshole ML. You'll see what I mean when you read it.
I think the reason why it the ML being a red flag feels so forced is because he doesn't have a reason to. Like in POTN for example, we already know Seungho was going to be a red flag based on they the author portrayed him in the first few chapters. Like him being a debauched and obviously mentally unstable so we know or we'll have an idea where the story is going. In this story however, the ML wasn't mistreated by her parents. At least based on the phone call he had with them. He does seem has a good relationship with them, except that his mother is really meddlesome when it comes to his life. I don't think that's enough reason for him to be or have a personality like that. Secretary Choi (not sure if he was secretary/assistant) also said that in their childhood, he was fairly normal. The author never hint that there's some kind of backstory behind his personality which is why it feels so forced. I think I need some "justification" as to why the author made him like this, which I think he/she failed to do. The way I see it, the author made him a "red flag" ML because the title is "The Tale of a Villain" which is really shallow and that is why I just can't force myself to read this.
